About us · Asturias

What coworking is (and why ours is different)

At Cowtainers we bring coworking into nature: a flexible workspace in the Bosque de la Zoreda, minutes from Oviedo. Here is what coworking means and why ours stands apart.

Why Cowtainers exists

We are from a small town, but work took us to live in Madrid, as happens to so many people who cannot find opportunities back home. We missed Asturias: the pace, the air, the quality of life that nature gives and that the city never quite matches, no matter how much you earn there.

The 2020 pause showed us that you can work well from anywhere. And the weariness of so many professionals still working alone from home sparked the idea: why not take coworking out of the city and bring it into the forest?

Who we are

Co-founder

Pablo Díaz Campbell-Smith

A mechanical industrial engineer from Lieres. He moved to Madrid at 22 to work at Thyssenkrupp and still works on industrial project commissioning today. Asturias is home, and he wanted the best for it: that is where Cowtainers comes from.

Co-founder

Víctor Pérez Arce

An architect from Pola de Siero. He studied and started his career in Madrid, at the Polytechnic, until he managed to return to the longed-for home soil. He has always felt connected to rural areas, and that was the seed of the idea.

How we arrived at the Bosque de la Zoreda

Cowtainers began thanks to the EDP ENTAMA Programme and with support from LEADER funds: backing for entrepreneurs in Asturias municipalities. We applied, we won, and EDP put us in touch with the Ribera de Arriba Town Council, which had long wanted to bring coworking to its municipality.

Together we searched for the ideal site for months, until we found the land of the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción del Principado de Asturias in the Bosque de la Zoreda. From day one they offered their collaboration, and that is how the space you know today was born.

Cowtainers was created thanks to support from ENTAMA and LEADER funds. If you want to know how a rural seat can open doors to grants and contests, we explain it here.

What drives us

We believe the place where you work shapes how you feel and what you are able to create. That is why we built Cowtainers on three ideas:

Commitment to the place

We look after the site that has given us so much.
